News from the

Pennsylvania Curriculum Exchange

Quick Reminder: The Quarter Sale is this week–T/W/Sat.

Apologia has a new health curriculum designed for grades 8-12. Unlike the science courses, the student notebook is a required part of the program.

Easy Grammar has just come out with a first grade version of this extremely popular series.

Quarter Sale

News from the

Pennsylvania Curriculum Exchange

quarter

The bargain section has hit 7,000+ books, so it is time for another quarter sale! It will be Tuesday June 26 (12-6), Wednesday June 27 (12-6), and Saturday June 30 (11-2). No appointments this week.

Each item in the bargain section will be a quarter (25¢). Sets of books are 25¢ per item. This includes books from my bargain area from the topics of math, science, history/geography, language arts, Bible, homeschool helps, old edition BJU and Abeka, and lots and lots of readers/novels . And TONS of flashcards.

This is a great opportunity to stock up on educational resources. For a quarter, it’s easy, for example, to buy a science book and cut it up to use the pictures for a lap book–no guilt involved. 🙂

Young children are always welcome in the store, but if you have an option to not bring them this week–it would probably be safer for them 😉  (I’ll be temporarily removing the play area this week since it’s in the bargain section and there is just no room if we add in people, too).

I will be accepting consignments. (I take them year-round, no exceptions.) As a head’s up, I am getting pickier due to space constraints throughout the store. I can sort your stuff quickly when you bring it in to let you know which I’ll take.

If you’ve got them, bring your cloth supermarket bags–they are ideal for hauling away all your goodies. And I take donations of plastic grocery bags if you’d like to recycle them with me.

Thanks!

2. The Amazing Dr. Ransom’s Bestiary of Adorable Fallacies. Textbook and Flashcards. This is a totally fun way to teach Logic. (Thanks to Carrie Grassmyer for a head’s up on this really cute set!)

Come by and check them out–both of these items have great illustrations.

Price Drop:

I’ve lowered the price on some current edition used Apologia textbooks:

  • Exploring Creation with General Science (2nd ed) $25
  • Exploring Creation with Physical Science (2nd ed) $25
  • Exploring Creation with Biology (2nd ed) $25

I also have 2nd edition Chemistry and 1st edition Human Body for $20. I have the other 2nd edition titles (and 3rd edition Chem) at 40% off–$39. There are also some 1st editions in the bargain section for $1.

And because this is my blog and I can do what I want–here is a cute personal pic–what I’ve been up to this week. 😀

Quarter Sale Plus Something New…

News from the

Pennsylvania Curriculum Exchange

The Quarter Sale is ON! It will be Tuesday March 27 and Wednesday March 28, from 12-6. Should be 7,000-8,000 books on sale. This will include some items recently moved back there: DK/Usborne (still have more than a hundred of these left), most of my creation books–ones with older copyrights, and a crate filled with dinosaur titles. For those new to it, I will include the description of the quarter sale below. But first…

I’m doing something new this time. In addition to all the Bargain Books being reduced to 25¢, I’m setting up a table to try and move out overstock items. For the most part, these are current edition books that I just have too many of. They will be $1 each instead of the regular price for these two days. Some examples are:

  • English From the Roots Up
  • Dear America readers
  • Polished Cornerstones, Plants Grown Up, and others from this publisher
  • Veritas Press History and Bible guides, cards, and CDs
  • Kay Arthur kid’s Bible studies.
  • Learning Language Arts Through Literature Teacher Guides 2nd edition (This has just been updated to 3rd edition. I have all the 2nd edition student activity books too, but at the regular discounted price.)
  • Simply Grammar
  • America’s Providential History

The above will be $1 each for these two days, not 25¢.

Here’s the spiel for the quarter sale…

Each item in the bargain section will be a quarter (25¢). Sets of books are 25¢ per item. Looking For An Artist/Graphic Artist

News from the

Pennsylvania Curriculum Exchange

This is actually personal and not related to the store. But I thought I would tap into the homeschool community and all its talents. 🙂

I have recently finished writing a novel and I’m looking for a high school student who has a talent with mapmaking and doing fonts freehand. I need a map to go with my story for the front of the book. I have in mind something similar to what is in The Hobbit style-wise (minus the elvish). Though my map would need to be a little more complicated than this sample.

The Hobbit:

It needs to be close to professional quality. If you have a student with these talents, please have them email me a sample(s) of their work. The student would need to be able to take my pathetic sketches and a description and translate that into a cool map. The final project would include a payment of $50 and attribution in the book.

Thanks!

Winter Update

News from the

Pennsylvania Curriculum Exchange

Newly Discounted:

The vast majority of my Usborne and DK titles (hundreds of them) have been discounted to $1.00. This does include some of the ones used for Sonlight and My Father’s World.

I also have a crate dedicated to Dinosaur titles. Some are titles from Answers in Genesis or other creation ministries. All of them are $1.00.

Graduation Around the Corner:

It may still feel like deep winter, but if you have a senior then graduation is just a few months away! Please remember we have a variety of caps and gowns in stock that will save you a lot of money for this single-use item. They are $8-$10.

Bargain Section:

FYI my bargain dollar section is at capacity (I know, again!) All bargain books brought in on consignment from now until the next quarter sale (6-8 weeks) will be boxed and stored until the sale. In other words, they won’t be put up for sale at $1.00, but will go directly for $.25. So keep that in mind if you plan to consign. (There is no change for regular, non-bargain books–they will be shelved normally.) I’ve asked people to be more mindful of what they bring in for bargain–and you all have! But the volume is just outta this world–I just can’t house it all. As a reminder I currently will not accept the following (that I used to): Christian self-help unrelated to homeschooling, devotions, Bibles, Chicken Soup, cyberschool curriculum, and old edition teacher manuals without the student parts.

The flip side to this, is there is one heck of an awesome quarter sale coming up! I’m thinking late March/early April. I’m not trying to be cagey about the date–but after scheduling the one last spring for a day we had a blizzard that the Governor asked people to stay off the roads! I want to wait and see if it looks clear in the 10-day forecast. 🙂

Thanks!
